Babar Azam 1000 Runs in a Calendar Year:
Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam becomes fastest Pakistani to score 1000 runs in a calendar year surpassing legendary Javed Miandad. Flamboyant right-handed batsman achieved this feat on Monday in second ODI against Sri Lanka. It only took him 19 innings to score 1000 runs in a calendar year while legendary Javed Miandad achieved the same feat in 21 innings.
Javed Miandad Achieved This in his 21st Innings!!
Former Pakistan Captain Javed Miandad in 1987 achieved this feat in his 21st inning. Babar Azam not only shattered Javed Miandad’s record but he also went on to score his 11th ODI century. He is currently regarded as one of the best white ball players in the world averaging 50+ in ODIs and T20Is.
Usman Shinwari Also Took Five Wickets In The Innings
His ton and Usman Shinwari 5 wicket haul helped Pakistan beating Sri Lanka by 67 runs in second ODI at National Stadium Karachi. Third and final ODI of the series will be played tomorrow at the same venue, Pakistan currently leading the series by 1-0.
Similar feat was achieved by many other Pakistanis like Misbah-ul-haq, Muhammad Hafeez, Muhammad Yousuf, Saeed Anwar, Amir Sohail, Inzamam and Javed Miandad.
Babar Azam is third quickest to score 11 ODI tons, took him just 71 innings to do so. Babar Azam, 24, has already recorded several Pakistan’s ODI records to his name. Pakistan’s ex-coach Mickey Arthur had also praised Babar’s passion and commitment towards his game.
